Members with a Home Club in another Country

Members with an EGA or CONGU handicap and a Home Club in another Country are reminded that under the regulations of the Portuguese Golf Federation, it is their responsability to inform the Handicap Secretary of their playing record from the other Country.

The Handicap Committee will review the Playing Record submitted by the player on each visit to Portugal and make any necessary adjustments to the player's EGA handicap. The Committee also has the discretion to record the number of qualifying rounds played by the player as registered in the Playing Record.

Yellow Tees Male Senior Criteria

CRITERIA GOVERNING MALE SENIOR MEMBERS CONCESSION TO PLAY OFF THE YELLOW TEES IN GOLFE CLUBE DE TAVIRA COMPETITIONS

Rationale behind this move is to give our most senior players an opportunity to remain competitive and continue to enjoy their golf in Golfe Clube de Tavira. It is becoming common practice in many EGU countries to stipulate that once players have reached a certain age they must play from the forward tees.
GCT does not wish to impose this but make it an option which individual players can request. It is possible that the pace of play will be improved once a number of members are taking up this concession.

The Handicaps and Competitions Committee would like to ask any male member who has reached the age of 70 who wishes to apply to the Committee for consideration to be allowed to play from the Yellow Tees to write in to the Committee and request an individual review.

The Concession:

Is not available to players in Category 1 or 2 those below an exact handicap of 11.4 unless there are "medical reasons". Medical reasons are grounds for a handicap review to be requested and if the review raises the handicap above 11.4 exact only then will the player become eligible for the concession.

Is not available to Men over 70 years of age in Category 3, 11.5 to 18.4 exact handicap.

Is available automatically to Men 75 years of age in Category 3 to 5, 11.5 exact handicap or higher.

Is available to all members once they have reached 70 years of age and are in Categories 4 to 5, 18.5 exact handicap and above.

PLayers who have been granted the concession are not permitted to revert back to using the White Tees in club competitions without first applying to the Handicap and Competitions Committee, with exception of competitions listed below.

The concession does not apply to the Club Championships, Greensomes, Foursomes and Betterball events which are to be played by all male entrants from the White Tees off white slope handicap with individual competition format adjustments.

Players granted the concession are not eligible to play for GCT in the Interclub League.

Players granted the concession will not be eligible for the 2014 Order of Merit.

Committee has the right to cancel the concession if a player has a "burst of form" and moves them to a lower category than the concession criteria allows, that player will immediately revert back to the White Tees until the criteria is once again met.

The concession will remain in place until the end of 2014 when a review will be done to ascertain its effectiveness.

Unfortunately there is no opportunity to offer the senior Ladies any concession as Benamor does not have any Blue Tees and therefore Federationb accepted slope handicaps.

EGA Handicaps - Important to all members

To all members of the Club:

You are reminded that in order to maintain an active playing handicap in accordance with FPG rules you are required to submit 4 qualifying cards each calendar year.

You can submit qualifying cards using any 1 of 3 methods:

a) By entering a qualifying club competition, the dates of which are published on the club noticeboard and on the club website  http://www.golfeclubedetavira.com/

b) By submitting and Extra Day Score Card (EDS) which must be registered in reception prior to playing, and only 1 EDS card can be submitted each calendar month.

c) Through an 'away score', from a competition at another Federated Club.

If you have a home club in another country, and can provide a playing record from that club which shows the number of qualifying competitions you have played in, then this can be used to satisfy the Federation requirements.

If you do not submit enough qualifying cards before the year end then your EGA handicap will be considered 'Lapsed' (inactive). this means that although you will be able to play in club competitions you will not be eligible to win any 'Net' prizes or be included in 'Net' rankings, until you have returned enough cards to re-activate your handicap.

Best regards

Handicap Committee
